How to Set Up a Cheap NAS and Print Server Using DD-WRT
Network Accessible Storage can get really expensive, but you can use a router to do the same thing for a much lower price. It needs to have a USB port and should be compatible with DD-WRT firmware (see here). I used a Linksys WRT610N. Lets get started!
The first step is to install DD-WRT on your router. This tutorial from the DD-WRT wiki is very helpful.
Once you have done that, follow this guide from Lifehacker to set up your usb harddrive or use this guide for a usb flash drive. You can use a flash drive instead of a hard drive if you just want to set up a print server.
The next step is to set up the print server. Follow this guide.
You’re done! Print a test page and revel in your awesomeness!
